Books With a Women With White Dress Innthe Cover

The color of a book's cover doesn't say much about its contents but, without fail, there's always at least one reading challenge each year that has a prompt featuring a book's cover color (hint: Beat the Backlist is one of them this year). So to help you out, we've prepared 12 lists covering as many common colors as we could think of, starting with today's WHITE list!

Don't forget to stop back! We'll be releasing a list each month featuring a different color. And as always, the books we include will be predominantly backlist titles (published in 2020 or earlier).

For the purposes of this list, we're considering any book where white is a dominant color, but other colors may also be featured.

Books with White Covers

Young Adult Fiction

First up, I wanted to share some YA science fiction! Sword in the Stars by Amy Rose Capetta and Cori McCarthy is the sequel to Once & Future which I've been meaning to get to for a while now (and I've heard nothing but good things). Marie Lu's Warcross was AMAZING and its sequel Wildcard is on my TBR. I also loved The Diabolic by S.J. Kincaid (though had some less than stellar thoughts about the sequel…) and would recommend it just for this first book alone. And finally, Brendan Reichs' Nemesis is another from my TBR!

Getting into the fantasies, we have Emily A. Duncan's Wicked Saints (which I still need to read the sequel for…), The Cruel Prince by Holly Black (and if you want some bonus titles, the new editions of her Modern Faerie Tale series (Tithe, Valiant, and Ironside also feature white as a dominant cover color), The Silvered Serpents by Roshani Chokshi (sequel to The Gilded Wolves), and finally Not Even Bones by Rebecca Schaeffer (first in its series and y'all this book is SO GOOD!).

I've read 3 of the 4 books featured here and Not Even Bones is easily my favorite and one I would absolutely recommend!

Finally, I offer two YA contemporary novels for your consideration. While I'm not personally a big contemporary reader and have yet to tackle The Hade U Give by Angie Thomas or Courtney Summers' Sadie, I've heard a lot of people rave about both so they might be perfect for your TBR too!

Adult Fiction

From adventuring between four different Londons (V.E. Schwab's A Darker Shade of Magic ) to taking a trip to Hell's own library ( The Library of the Unwritten by A.J. Hackwith), to a suffragist movement… except witches ( The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow) and a take on colonial oppression in a Caribbean-inspired world (Kacen Callender's Queen of the Conquered ), there must be something here to spark your interest.

*Okay, yes, The Library of the Unwritten might be a bit of a stretch for a white cover but it's close??

If not, a few more for you to consider…

For fans of morally gray characters and grim stories, I'd recommend A Court of Broken Knives by Anna Smith Spark. If you're more into magic and spies, give Brad Abraham's Magicians Impossible a go. Haven't read The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang yet? It's okay, I haven't either but I really want to and it sounds like a must-read for epic fantasy fans. And then the lone adult science fiction title on this list, Christina Dalcher's Vox gives a whole new meaning to word count and female oppression.

The Edition Game

Lastly, some of these books fit this prompt but only if you look at a specific edition. Neil Gaiman's Good Omens and Erin Morgenstern's The Night Circus are perfect examples of this and I couldn't resist mentioning both!
